For Hari Sankar, a bright young student pursuing his final year B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at Mahindra Engineering College, Namakkal, life changed in an instant.
On June 6, 2025, Hari Sankar met with a devastating accident during his college days. The fall caused severe injuries to his spine and head, leaving him in critical condition. After receiving emergency first aid, he was referred to CMC Hospital, where doctors diagnosed multiple spinal fractures involving the 1st cervical, 3rd thoracic, and 5th lumbar vertebrae.

Due to the complexity of his injuries, surgery was not an option. Instead, he was fitted with a specialized spinal corset with head support and was confined to prolonged bed rest for several months. The recovery process was physically painful and emotionally challenging. Most importantly, the accident forced him to pause his education just before completing his degree.
Hari Sankar comes from a financially vulnerable family. His father works as a daily wage laborer, struggling to meet the family's daily needs. With two sisters and significant debts from house construction and medical expenses, the burden on the family became overwhelming. As the only son, Hari Sankar carried the hope of securing a better future for his family through education. However, mounting medical costs threatened not only his recovery but also his dream of completing his studies.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Shanthimalai Trust stepped forward to provide medical financial assistance during this difficult period. The support helped ease the family's financial burden and ensured that Hari Sankar could continue receiving the care and rehabilitation he needed.
Today, this story has a hopeful ending. Through determination, family support, and the timely assistance provided by Shanthimalai Trust, Hari Sankar has made a remarkable recovery. In the academic year 2026–27, he successfully rejoined his college and resumed his education, moving one step closer to achieving his dream of becoming an engineer.
